The Best Playgrounds – Durham Region, Ontario

If you’re looking for the best playgrounds in Durham Region, you’ve come to the right place. In the last few years, some incredible new playgrounds have been built all over Durham. These parks are packed full of unique and incredibly fun features that your kids will love. Many of the parks also have splash pads, inclusive features and other amenities that make them great for spending a day at the park – like bathrooms!

Lynde Creek Park, Whitby, Ontario

This brand new inclusive Durham Region playground opened in summer 2023 and it is absolutely incredible. Lynde Creek park has accessible rubber flooring, as well as an accessible carousel and swings. There is a an amazing sand play area with water pumps and troughs, parkour features, musical features, as well as climbing structures for big and little kids. We also love the bamboo jungle climbing poles and cute flower/butterfly themed splash pad located right beside the playground!

Des Newman WhitBEE Park, Whitby, Ontario

Another brand new Durham Region playground, the WhitBEE Park playground also opened in summer 2023. One of our favourite things about this park is the adorable Bee theme that is incorporated throughout all of the park’s play features, from the bee-shaped climbing structures to the bee-themed puzzles and decorative details. One of the best play features at the park is the epically long zipline. We also love that there is a water table and a cute flower themed splash pad beside the park.

Lakeview Park, Oshawa, Ontario

Lakeview Park in Oshawa is home to arguably the most epic climbing structure in all of Durham Region. Located at the centre of the park, there is a huge 3-story climber with a long twisty slide. Located all around the giant climber are other incredible play features including an inclusive/toddler play area, ziplines, tandem swings and a great splash pad. On top of all of the amazing play features, Lakeview Park playground is also located right beside Lake Ontario, which makes for incredible views while you play. There are bathrooms located right beside the playground and in the summer there is also a great restaurant called the Jube Pub and Patio.

Elgin Park Playground, Uxbridge, Ontario

Yet another brand new Durham Region playground, the Uxbridge Lions’ universal accessible playground opened in Elgin Park in summer 2023. This incredible park features soft rubber flooring, an accessible carousel, slides with a ramp available to access them, a wooden climber, play house, sand play area, saucer swing and musical instruments. Some of the older climbing features are also still located alongside the new playground. There are seasonal bathrooms located beside the playground. We also love the beautiful natural park setting, with many mature trees to provide shade.

Palmer Park Playground, Port Perry, Ontario

This inclusive waterfront playground, located in Port Perry, opened in early 2023 and it is a fantastic addition to Durham Region. The playground features rubber flooring, an accessible rocking ship, swings and a spinning climber. There is a large climbing structure for bigger kids and a smaller one for toddlers. But possible the most popular feature at this playground is the long and fast zipline! We also love that the playground is located very near to restaurants, shops and a waterfront walking trail.
